Powder and Policy
Case in question: here
- 7th Circuit Decision: The court denied a full panel review (en banc) of the Illinois gun ban case.
- Implication: This decision means the case can’t be reconsidered by the 7th Circuit.
- It was an interlocutory appeal, meaning an appeal in the middle of the case, not at the end. SCOTUS apparently prefers cases with a final judgment, but as Hannah Hill from NAGR says, there is nowhere else to go but Scotus.
- Next Step: The only option left is the Supreme Court.
- NAGR has 3 months to file their certiorari petition.
- NAGR has an emergency appeal pending with SCOTUS
- Supreme Court’s Role: Their decision to hear or not hear the case will be crucial for national gun legislat

Ian K:
I have never bought a completed AR so I am not sure if I am missing some sort of bonus to having a big name put one together. All of mine are set up for something specific, so instead of repurposing, I am looking to get at least a pair of something more duty oriented and set them up similarly for training purposes. I am looking to get something in 5.56 such as BCM recce 14, Cobalt Kinetics, or something similar. What are your thoughts on these higher tier manufacturers versus just an aero upper and lower with good parts kits?
Matt G:
I’m looking to get a better over under shotgun for sporting clays. Is it worth the extra money to get a Browning Citori 725 or Beretta silver pigeon with the adjustable comb ($3500-$5000). Or go with some of the other good over under’s that are cheaper like CZ drake /redhead, Mossberg silver reserve, or Winchester 101. I just wonder if the price jump is worth it? Resale wise which guns fare better?
Josh A: Having recently moved to a state where there shooting long range is somewhat limited, I’ve been exploring other options. Shotgun sports seem to be pretty popular, judging by the sheer number of trap, skeet and sporting clay ranges there are. I figure I may as well give it a shot. What style and brands of shotgun should I look at if I want to keep the cost under $2,500? Assuming over under versus semiautomatic, is there an advantage to one or the other? Thanks!
Alex W:
Not a question. But I thought y’all might get a kick out of this story after hearing Jeremy’s “I ❤ cloaca” joke. Today the crew I work on drove past a Burger King that was advertising their crispy chicken wraps. One of my coworkers misread it and asked “what’s a crispy chicken WAP?” After we all laughed for a while I told him that it is when the restaurant makes a mistake and you get a crispy, deep fried cloaca mixed in with your tenders. For some reason I couldn’t get the foreman to make eye contact with me after that one.
DrScaryGuy:
What should I do with an old suppressor? I have a gemtech multimount 9mm, but it turns out suppressed pistols suck. Should I spend the money on a trilug mount for it to make it more useful and buy more PCCs? I know it will NEVER be as useful as my modern cans with the 1-3/8″ system. Is this a sunk cost fallacy and I’ll be throwing good money after bad? Should I just dedicate it to one sad gun instead of making it QD? Should I stuff it up my ass to help smuggle secret agent gear overseas? What should I do?
Matt J:
Have any of you handled/shot/heard of anything from Big Horn Armory? Just had a job interview there and I’d like to know your opinion on them
