Welcome to Double Tap, episode 371! Your hosts tonight are Jeremy Pozderac, Aaron Krieger, Nick Lynch, and me Shawn Herrin, welcome to the show!

Dear WLS

  • Nick F – a coworker of mine asked about the 22 arc and 22creedmor. I had no idea there existed and have started looking into them. just curious what the cast thinks and if they chose one… what would it be?

  • Duke of Crude – Hey fam,Do you think there is going to be a market crash of certain guns in the next 10-15yrs? On my travels, (the few gun stores with used guns) I have been seeing more used “collector” revolvers and 1911s that are getting dusty in the show cabinet? Curious as to everyone’s thoughts on how much longer boomers are going to be trying to get $1500 out of a colt series 70 1911?Also, do you think are the worst over priced “boomer specials”?Thanks for the laughs!Duke

  • Danger Ranger – If you were traveling and you are bringing a 11.5 or 16in AR with because reasons; would you choose to carry traditional m855 green tip or 68grn BTHPM ( boat tail hollow point match for A-Aron) and before Jeremy gets all pedantic about choosing 75grn whatever. The rifles shoot both of these loads well so that’s where the choice comes. Think more along the line of a get home load might be for food might be for 2 legged predators. Thanks I’ll hang up and listen for your answer.

  • Mike C – Dear WLS, I’m in the process of building an AR in .223. I already have a 10.5” pistol, and 16” ones so this one i am thinking of going with a longer barrel. I have narrowed it down to a Faxon Match Series 20″ Heavy Fluted in .223 Wylde or the 18” version. Which barrel would you go with and are there any pros or cons with either length. I already put a magpul psr lite on it and it will eventually be suppressed so it’s not like length is a factor. Thanks for your input fellas and keep that SSB clean so it doesn’t get itchy. Itchy assholes stick, literally.

  • Tyler R – I decided to build a 10/22. Normally I wouldn’t give a shit about a 10/22, but I live in the city limits and I need to kill some groundhogs. I have a can on the way. Most 22’s aren’t threaded so I decided on the build route. I ordered a Brownells receiver and a Faxon barrel. The barrel was as advertised. But the receiver was about 8 thousandths too small for the barrel. A little sandpaper for the receiver and a deep freeze for the barrel did the trick. My question, how often do you run into these kind of annoyances? It’s probably 1 in 8 for me. I’m often having to slightly modify something during a build whether it’s a bolt, pistol, AR or other. I buy from quality brands and rarely skimp. Do I just have shitty luck or are standards slipping?
