Senate Rejects Pistol-Brace Ban Repeal in Party-Line Vote
This week the Senate, in a not too terribly surprising move, rejected the CRA repeal of the ATF’s pistol brace rule in a party-line 50-49 vote.
It is ATF’s position that the rule-an effective ban on braced firearms-is how the law always was. Which you and I know is absurd. Only declaratory and injunctive relief from the courts can tie ATF’s hands and put an end to this class of overreach.
All that to say, try not to be too bummed about the stalling of H.J. Res. 44.

Concealed carry is one of the most active fronts of litigation in the post-Bruen world. As a litany of states passed manifestly unconstitutional laws right after the Bruen case was decided, most focused on carry in “sensitive spaces.”

My critique, though, is in the liberties the company has taken. They went with a 1911 grip angle, and to accomplish that made the grip limousine long. It looks stupid and you’ll probably need massive meat hooks like mine to wrap a paw around it. That it’s made of butter-soft 1018 and has polymer grip inserts kind of makes one question the superpremium price point.
The AK-12 is a fascinating bit of AK lore. Adopted in 2018, it had American AK-enthusiasts drooling over it. Over the years, gray market parts kits made their way to the US, where it was discovered that the AK12, with its AR-style stock and miserable pic rails, was kind of rough.
To be frank, the redesign it is also kind of handsome.

Handgun Defenses Against Bears – 170 Documented Incidents, 98% Effective
The availability heuristic can lead to some false associations. Here, many journos are touting how effective handguns have been in defense against a bear. It’s good to hear that handgun deployments in bear defenses were effective in 98% of reported incidents. But it shouldn’t lead one to ditch their trail carbine.
