Tonight, Aaron gets grounded, Coy goes mudding, & Ben died

Welcome to the off-road podcast. A podcast about everything off-road. We cover the news, review products, and interview people in the off road industry.  Your hosts tonight are Aaron, Coy, my name is Ben and we are joining us again tonight by Brent from Oregon Adventure Trucks who we last had on back in 2018 on episode 192 when he worked for Earth Cruiser.  Welcome to the show.

Coy – mowed my swamp

Aaron – Got some parts to start grounding things in the engine bay. Played around with the scan tool and dialed in the steering angle.

Ben – healing up, haven’t done much

News brought to you by Colby Valve

  • Autoblog – Toyota Land Cruiser 2024 pricing announced
    • The 2024 Toyota Land Cruiser will start at $57,345, according to Toyota. That price includes the $55,950 base MSRP plus a $1,395 destination charge. That’s a huge drop, and welcome news in an era where corporations constantly ratchet up prices under the guise of inflation.
    • In fact, Land Cruiser prices haven’t been this low in almost 20 years, when the 2005 100-series started at $55,325. But the hard-core off-roader grew in size and luxury content, much to the chagrin of dedicated four-wheeling enthusiasts who prefer a “no-fluff” approach to their rigs. The last Land Cruiser sold before a three-year hiatus, the 2021 200-series, started at $86,880. That’s a whopping $29,535 price cut.
    • The SUV will come in two grades, with the Land Cruiser 1958 as the base model. (The Land Cruiser is one of Toyota’s oldest nameplates, dating back to 1958 in the U.S. and 1954 in Japan.) The upgraded trim, called just-plain Land Cruiser, will offer more creature comforts. And there will be a limited run of First Edition models.
    • With a more affordable price, the Land Cruiser should return to its rightful place as the go-anywhere off-road truck that breaks trails, not banks. If you want all the bells and whistles, there’s always the Lexus LX.
  • Car Buzz – Subaru Is Redeveloping Its Off-Road Lineup
    • Subaru has filed 12 new trademarks with the United States Patent and Trademark Office for adventurous-sounding model names, suggesting several new off-road-focused vehicles or trims are coming.
    • First spotted by AutoGuide, the names include Accomplice, Everguide, Everpass, Getaway, Highroad, Hightrail, Outsider, Tailwind, Trailhead, Trailseeker, Uncharted, and Viewfinder. Some of them, like Accomplice, are strange, but the rest could be used for more adventurous trims – or an entirely new SUV.
    • Wilderness vehicles receive more ground clearance, all-terrain tires, and CVTs with revised ratios for off-roading. While they are capable, there’s always room for improvement.
    • It could also be a trim aimed at those who want the rugged looks but none of the off-road capability; the JCW trim of the Mini Cooper Electric Hardtop offers sporty styling but no JCW performance upgrades.
    • Perhaps Subaru will introduce an off-road version of the Solterra electric crossover. As a battery-electric car, Subaru may not want to use the Wilderness name that customers associate with the rest of the lineup. The Solterra may adopt the Trailhead, Highroad, or Hightrail names as the electric equivalent to the Wilderness.
