Coy – snow camp prep

Aaron – Started sheathing the walls in the shop and laying out cabinets!  Got the diesel heater running. The Nissan Titan has left the chat and let me down one last time.  Replaced the brakes & horn on the wifes truck.  Packing for the trip.

Ben – got to go out shooting with pete for his birthday and ordered in a bunch of odds and ends for the 4runner didn’t manage to get any work done as there’s some inclement weather moving in and i’d like to be ready for snow got some reading and prepping for ham radio passing most of practice tests taking the test next week

  • Much has been said about Toyota’s all-new hybrid-only Land Cruiser, but if the German sales figures are anything to go by, it will be a smash hit.
  • German reservations open at 8 AM on 21 December, and Toyota had to close the system down 30 minutes later. The entire German allocation of 1,000 units had all been spoken for, but Toyota Germany has since opened a new portal where you can get on a waiting list if one of the reservation spots opens up.
  • That’s the most impressive sales record we’ve seen since the limited-edition Chrysler 300C sold out in less than a day.
  • Chrysler had 2,200 units of the last V8-powered 300 to sell, and it took 12 hours. That’s a 300C sold every 19 seconds, which is nowhere near Toyota’s achievement. If we crunch the numbers, a Land Cruiser reservation was made roughly every two seconds.

  • The police said a Toyota Corolla turned to the right and subsequently struck a dirt embankment on the right shoulder, then re-entered the roadway, crossed over the double yellow lines & hit the Cybertruck
  • While the specifics of the accident remain under investigation, one thing is clear: even the seemingly indestructible Cybertruck isn’t immune to a fender bender.
  • The Cybertruck’s repairability is the real question here, and it’s one that isn’t getting much attention. It uses the largest gigacasting components in the industry and they aren’t repairable.  Gigacastings’ claim to fame is the technology eliminates multiple sub-assemblies. The only problem with that is when one of these huge castings is damaged, the vehicle is totaled.  The insurance industry is on to this and Tesla folks pay stiff premiums as a result.
  • For many breathless acolytes of the Cybertruck, the unanswered issue of repairability is not top of mind. The big question for this Cybertruck truck is: how much damage can it take? And can it be fixed?
