News brought to you by Colby Valve

  • Fox News – How to Turn Your Bronco into a Roadster
    • When the original Ford Bronco was launched in 1966, it was available as a two-door or a no-door.  The Bronco Roadster was built without doors or a roof, making it the ultimate open-top SUV.  The body was updated to create a signature swoop line around the door opening.
    • Aftermarket body parts specialist Anderson Composites is now offering a set of Roadster-style doors that replace the stock parts.
    • The fiberglass parts are actually functional swing-out doors this time but offer a take on the original Bronco’s cutaway styling. They weigh just 14.8 pounds compared to the Bronco’s 52.5-pound doors.
    • They are currently only available for the four-door Bronco priced at $2,198 for a full set, but a two-door set is coming later this year.
    • Tube doors from Ford are priced nearly the same at $2,250.
    • Anderson Composities advertises the doors for off-road use only, but it is legal to drive a Bronco with the doors off in most states.
  • Road & Track – Nissan Titan Production to End
    • Nissan Titan production will reportedly come to a close next year. The decision comes as the brand shifts its focus toward EVs.
    • Nissan put out this statement, “Production of the Nissan Titan is scheduled to end summer 2024 at our Canton plant in Mississippi. Under Nissan’s Ambition 2030 vision of an electrified future, we are accelerating the process of transforming the Canton plant with the latest in EV manufacturing technology. This will support production of two all-new, all-electric vehicles. There will be no workforce reductions due to this action.  Titan has been an important nameplate for Nissan in North America for 20 years, and we’re grateful to the dealers, customers, and thousands of employees who have played pivotal roles throughout Titan’s lifecycle.”
    • Nissan broke into the full-sized truck market all the way back in 2004, the culmination of an ambitious plan to meet American customers in a crucial North American segment. Sales peaked at an impressive 86,945 in 2005, the car’s first full reporting year. They never came close to those heights again, dipping below 20,000 for multiple stretches and landing at just 15,063 last year. The truck’s current generation began back in 2016 and the entire lineup was refreshed again in 2020.

How did Hellwig get started?

For those that don’t know, please tell us what Helllwig produces and sells.

Help us settle a bet, Should they be called sway bars or anti-sway bars?

How will sway bars help people who use their rigs off road?

Same kind of question, can helper springs be beneficial to people with off road rigs?

Hypothetically, if someone has a tow rig that is rated to tow 10,000lbs from the manufacturer and they regularly tow up to that much do they really need the aftermarket parts that Hellwig makes?

Some off-roaders like to remove their anti-sway bars.

Why would someone want adjustable sway bars?

I have a 2017 F150 that I replaced the bump stops with some made for by Timbrin.  The ride is pretty firm then they make contact.  Would airbags be a better option for me?  We pull trailers often with the truck but also like to have a smooth ride for when it is used as a daily driver.

Both Aaron & I have a background in the sport compact car scene, as probably quite a few of our listeners probably do as well.  Will Hellwig ever start making suspension components for those vehicles in the future?

SEMA Question

We understand that you are on the board for SEMA. Aaron & I will be going this year for the 1st time to cover it as media.  Any suggestions on how to make our trip as eventful, efficient, & successful as possible?
