News brought to you by Colby Valve
- Car Buzz – Ram 3500 Transformed Into 4×4 Camper With Supercar Technology
- TruckHouse has revealed the BCR 4×4 camper, and it’s full of clever ideas and smart construction techniques.
- TruckHouse first made waves with their Tacoma-based carbon fiber “motorhome”.
- They have taken what they have learned and applied it to a Ram 3500 with the AEV Prospector XL package.
- The camper area is a vacuum-infused monocoque mated to the truck chassis with a carbon fiber-reinforced torsion-free mounting system.
- Inside the single-piece carbon fiber house shell, an open-plan layout provides an interior standing height of 6’6″ and a clear view thanks to 270 degrees of windows that add to the feeling of spaciousness.
- The house is powered by a lithium battery bank, and its onboard systems can communicate with StarLink, enabling internet access in the most remote locales. Obviously, there’s an induction stove, a microwave, a sink, a marine two-drawer fridge/freezer, and your choice of toilet type (cassette, dry flush, composting). Despite its relatively small size, the house can “comfortably accommodate four adults,” says TruckHouse.
- It comes with a 74-gallon fuel tank, more than doubling the stock capacity. Other features include 40-inch tires, a stamped steel front bumper with a 20,000-pound winch, Highmark fender flares, and a three-inch dual-sport RT suspension system.
- All of this can be had with either a Cummins diesel or a Hemi V8 engine. Full pricing is not provided, but a pre-order can be made with a $10,000 refundable deposit. The first deliveries are expected in spring 2024.
- Autoblog – First Cybertruck is Built
- Elon Musk announced the battery-electric starship trooper on November 21, 2019. Many deadlines have been blown since then. But on July 15, Tesla’s official Twitter page announced, “First Cybertruck built at Giga Texas!”
- The photo shows a pre-production prototype surrounded by the men and women who built it. They are blocking most of the Cybertruck so it is hard to make out any details.
- What can be seen is the “gigawiper”, a single long blade lined up the driver’s side A-pillar.
- Tesla plans to produce 375,000/year.
- Pricing was announced in 2019. Starting at $40k and topping out around $70k. We doubt those numbers after inflation and the cost of manufacturing goods has gone up significantly since then.
- Tesla has around 1.6 million reservations as of November. There will be some long wait times for them.
- Matt, Does AEV have any plans to modify some Cybertrucks?
