Ben – Installed headlights upgraded to full led including markers ect and been organizing camp gear with the wife as we prepare for a family trip

Jeremy  – Warranteed my Battery.  Cleaned up some wiring.  Need to get my battery in before doing the final cleanup.

Coy – Came in fifth out of 10 at the Champagne Creek Challenge. Took a drive to get some paperwork signed.

COOKING METHODS

  • Backpacking stove- Ideal for 1 person, boiling water for coffee, rigs where weight is an issue.  Perfect if you are eating nothing but freeze dried meals
    • Pro: Portable, Light, quick setup
    • Cons: can be unstable, small cook surface, only one burner
  • Single Burner
    • Pro: more stable, 
    • Con: small cooking surface
  • Double burner
    • Pro: larger cook surface, still pretty compact,
    • Con: Can be on the larger side
  • Skottle
    • Pro: Super cool, versatile, free standing (some)
    • Con: Larger, expensive
  • Coleman Stove top oven
    • Pro: Folds flat, cheap
    • Con: Hard to regulate temperature, temperature gauge not always right
  • Camp Chef Oven
    • Pro: Legit oven with 2 burner stove on top
    • Con: Not cheap, large
  • Dutch Oven
    • Pro: Make baked items
    • Con: Heavy. Time consuming
  • Manifold cooking
    • Pro: free can do it while driving
    • Con: no precise cooking method
  • Bbq
    • Pros: smells good
    • Cons: bulky, 

FUEL TYPES

Gas Fuels

  • Propane
    • Pro: Available, High efficiency, clean, can buy larger tanks, works well in cold, cost effective, doesn’t go bad
    • Con: Small bottles can go out quick
  • Butane/isobutene
    • Pro: Easy, Efficient small
    • Con: does not work well in cold, slow heat times

Liquid Fuels

  • Gasoline
    • Pro: Available
    • Con: doesn’t burn clean
  • White Gas
    • Pro: Not pressurized, liquid, efficient in colder environments
    • Con: requires pumping and priming
  • Alcohol
    • Pro: liquid, very light stoves
    • Con: Very slow.  About half the energy/unit weight of propane, Sensitive to wind. If the stove goes dry, you must wait for it to cool before adding more fuel. Most stoves only have one flame setting. Poor in below freezing
  • Kerosene
    • Pro: liquid, affordable
    • Con: more impurities than white gas.  Can clog the stove.  

Solid Fuel

  • Wood
    • Pro: available in most places, 
    • Con: Fire restrictions, slow, need significant preheat time
  • Charcoal
    • Pro: Consistent heat, easily available
    • Con: Dirty

FAVORITE CAMPING MEALS TO MAKE

  • Ben: crepes! Simple and fun

Ingredients

1 cup all-purpose flour

2 eggs

½ cup milk

½ cup water

¼ teaspoon salt

2 tablespoons butter, melted

  • Coy – campfire apple pie

Peel and core apple,

fan or spiral cut apple

Butter tinfoil, and add a liberal helping of cinnamon and sugar

Wrap in tinfoil and roll in fire

Add toppings of any verity
