On Target

Tonight! We are on the warpath for public land ducks, and exploring the possibilities for waterfowl hunting from a canoodle or kayak:

Benefits of Hunting Ducks from a Canoe or Kayak:

– **Increased Mobility:** Canoes and kayaks allow access to remote areas that larger boats can’t reach.

– **Stealthy Approach:** Their quiet nature lets hunters get closer to ducks without spooking them.

– **Cost-Effective:** They are affordable, low-maintenance, and fuel-free, making them eco-friendly.

– **Physical Exercise:** Paddling offers a workout while immersing hunters in nature.

– **Versatile Use:** These small crafts work well in various environments, from lakes to narrow streams.

 Potential Drawbacks:

– **Limited Storage:** Canoes and kayaks have minimal space for gear, decoys, and birds.

– **Stability Issues:** These boats can be unstable in rough conditions, increasing the risk of capsizing.

– **Weather Exposure:** Hunters are more exposed to cold, wind, and rain in small watercraft.

– **Physical Fatigue:** Paddling is tiring, especially over long distances or in challenging conditions.

– **Limited Range:** Canoes and kayaks cover less ground than motorized boats, restricting reach.

  • Prop 127 talking points.
Why is it important?  The bill purports to ban all mountain lion, lynx and bobcats in an effort to ban trophy hunting.  What follows are a list of talking Points to bring up with your family and friends.
    List of facts.
Lynx are already protected in CO.
Until the 60s there was a bounty on lions because they were considered a vermin species, looked upon as coyotes and prairie dogs.  Since CPW put a stop to that, their numbers have flourished.  Yes there are an unlimited number of licenses, but that doesn’t mean unlimited cats are harvested.  There is a quota for harvest every day hunters must check before hunting in that unit.  There is a mandatory training program hunters must complete with CPW online before they hunt cats.  This training includes differences in gender and identification of adolescents from adults.  It also includes reminders of the laws that make it illegal to kill a female cat with kittens, or a kitten.
Lions are a big game species.  That means they are required to be prepared for human consumption which means taking all edible meat including backstrap, tenderloins and all four quarters. Not preparing the meat is a crime called “wasting” and is a felony.  There is no “trophy” hunting for cats.  Yes people display their kills, but no different from an elk or deer display.  Trophy hunting for cats, or any other species, is already illegal in Colorado.
They are incredibly elusive, skittish creatures.  In other words, they’re fucking cats.  A born hunter with night vision is gonna get the better of you most of the time.  That is why people use dogs.  The terrain to hunt them is incredibly rough.  They are not, in any way, easy to hunt.
Bobcat hunting is similar in every way.
Vote no.  Tell everyone that will look you in the eye to vote no as well.  We have to outnumber the people who claim to believe in science and vote for shit like this.
