Tonight!!  Big game season is over.  Waterfowling is over.  What do we

• Refitting the trailer: needs paint, wood and tires.  And spare relocation
• Refitting the Prado:
  Need to build a new deck unit to store the trauma kit, ammo, chains and other little used stuff underneath
  Need to get a suspension upgrade to deal  with the increased weight
  Want to get a window tint, including a rear window mural
• Various rifle projects to play with and get through in the off season.

Sam

• Trying out a Vortex Diamondback 4-16×44
• First impressions –  seems to be a decent middle of the road optic.
• Pros and cons? Haven’t had enough time with it to really determine those.
• It does fit the criteria for my hunting optic for this rifle:
  • Lightweight
  • Good magnification range
  • Front Focal Plane
  • Exposed turrets
  • Parallax adjustments
  • Not the size of two soda cans on the end of a broomstick
  • And that’s… that’s about it

• I RO’d and ran the Winter Run’N’Gun at the Burial Mound Shooting Center in Pawnee Ok
  1. Decent shooting, bad decisions
     • Dryshod boots
  2. Getting settled and building positions
  3. Shooting improving
  4. Bad conditions, better clothing
     • ECWCS vs packable insulation
  5. Practice, physical  and mental preparations
• Kids’ rifle is together, but still needs my chosen optic.
