Thoughts on ammo… buy the rounds that work and keep messing with the loads whilst using something that actually works?
Coyote hunting plans

- Packs
- Looking at more affordable options from Cabelas, main concern there is the longevity of the pack as well as weight distribution and load lifting ability, and in particular with regards to packing out meat.
- Haven’t looked as closely as I should, but the Cabelas Multiday 4000 doesn’t look like it has the load lifting capacity I would want.
- Load lifters, for you uneducated hillbillies, stabilize and pull the top of your pack closer to your body.
- There’s also a modular option with a separate frame and pack, but my previous experience will all such systems has been that they suck at everything.
- Seems like one of the go-to options is the Mystery Ranch Metcalf, which is expensive as all hell, but I wonder if the “buy once cry once” methodology doesn’t apply here.
- Setting up one of my rifles for coyote hunting, going with an unusual “platform” because I have it, I need to put rounds through it, and it’s cool.
- Going to try out a Primary Arms 3x microprism for the optic, since most of the shots we will plan on taking on coyotes will be inside two hundred yards, keeps the weight of the rifle down. Might even be a good optic choice for Mountain Lion.
