Comedy
When I went to a Christian school, I walked into the cafeteria and there on the table was a plate of fruit. Next to it was a sign that said “Take one. God is watching.”

Next to the fruit was a plate of cookies, which had a sign next to it, written by a fellow student, that said “Take as many as you want. God is watching the fruit.”

On this day in History:
1861 – The Battle of Fort Sumter was the first battle of the American Civil War. The intense Confederate artillery bombardment of Major Robert Anderson’s small Union garrison in the unfinished fort in the harbor at Charleston, South Carolina, had been preceded by months of siege-like conditions.

Armed Citizen
An alleged burglar is lucky to be alive after suffering a gunshot wound to the head following an encounter with an armed homeowner in Houma, La., on Feb. 21, 2024.

According to police, the homeowner said he heard noises coming from the first floor of his house at 5:15 that morning. When he went to investigate, he encountered and confronted the 34-year-old suspect. The homeowner fired once, causing the suspect to flee the home.

Police tracked the suspect to another area home, where they found him hiding underneath a mattress with a gunshot wound to the forehead. The suspect was transported to a local hospital and was released after treatment. He currently faces charges of simple burglary and probation violation. A 26-year-old accomplice was also charged with burglary, obstruction of justice and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. (WDSU News; Houma, La.; 2/21/24)
