On this day in History:
1955 NORAD’s Santa tracking service begins
The event is now a Christmas tradition where the North American Aerospace Defense Command tracks Santa Claus as he travels around the world delivering presents to children. The event began after a printing error in a Sears catalog asking children to call Santa Claus. The number that was printed was the number of Colorado Springs’ Continental Air Defense Command (CONAD) Center.
‘ For to us a child is born, to us a son is given; and the government shall be upon his shoulder, and his name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. Of the increase of his government and of peace there will be no end, on the throne of David and over his kingdom, to establish it and to uphold it with justice and with righteousness from this time forth and forevermore. The zeal of the Lord of hosts will do this. ‘

A Chicago, Ill., man defended himself when a group of alleged burglars attempted to rob him at gunpoint on Monday, Dec. 5, 2022.
The man was sitting in his parked car shortly before 6 a.m. that morning, when a Kia rolled up and parked nearby. Three strangers got out of the vehicle and approached the man, with one armed with a gun. The individual with the gun pointed it at the man, as the trio demanded that he hand over his belongings. However, the man, who was a licensed concealed carry holder, instead drew his own pistol and opened fire on the would-be robbers.
One of his shots struck the driver of the getaway car in the temple, while another struck an accomplice in the shoulder. The trio quickly retreated back to their car and sped off, only to crash a short distance away, causing one of the three to break a leg. The two burglars who were struck by the armed citizen were taken to local hospitals in critical condition. According to police, the trio was one of two carloads of alleged robbers who had been on a spree of robberies earlier that morning, and the Kia in which they were driving was stolen.
