Today’s Highlight in History: On Sept. 9, 1957, President Dwight D. Eisenhower signed the first civil rights bill to pass Congress since Reconstruction, a measure primarily concerned with protecting voting rights; it also established a Civil Rights Division in the U.S. Department of Justice.

Also this day in history, sept 9th, 1994. My wife gave birth to our Triplet Daughters at 0401, 0402, and 0403 am in the morning. Happy Birthday Girls.

Armed Citizen
The resident of a Webster, Texas, apartment defended herself and others inside when an intruder broke in on May 30, 2022.

The incident happened around 9 p.m. that Monday evening, when a man began to pound on the front door of the apartment. Eventually, the man managed to break down the front door, breaking the door frame in the process and making his way inside. Inside the home, the resident was not alone; there were also children present at the time.

Once the intruder made his way inside, fearing for herself and the others inside the apartment, the resident retrieved a firearm and fired a single shot at the home invader. Her shot met its mark, subduing the man. When police arrived on the scene afterwards, they discovered the foiled home invader deceased from his wound. (abc13.com, Dallas, Texas, 05/31/2022)
